Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (120g) Mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp (30g) Sweet pickle relish
- 1 tbsp (15g) Yellow mustard
- 1 tsp (5g) White vinegar
- 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Onion powder
- 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Paprika
- 1 lb (450g) Lean ground beef (90/10)
- 1 package (12 count) Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 1 tsp (5g) Salt
- 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Black pepper
- 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Onion powder
- 6 slices American cheese
- 1/2 white onion, finely diced
- 1/2 cup (50g) Dill pickle chips
- 2 cups (100g) Shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1 tbsp (14g) Melted butter
- 1 tsp (2g) Sesame seeds
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, relish, mustard, vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Cover and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld. This sauce can be made up to 48 hours in advance.
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat with salt, pepper, and onion powder. Break the meat into very small crumbles. Drain excess fat thoroughly.
- Slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally using a serrated knife. Place the bottom half in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer the cooked beef evenly over the bottom buns, followed by the slices of American cheese. Place the top bun section over the cheese.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and buns are golden.
- Lift the top bun layer off and spread a generous layer of the special sauce over the cheese. Top with diced onions, shredded lettuce, and dill pickle chips. Replace the top bun layer, slice, and serve.
